QWERTY Keyboard

Noemi includes a virtual QWERTY keyboard for playing notes without a MIDI controller.

TOGGLE

  • Press Cmd+K or click the Qwerty button in the MIDI toolbar to enable/disable.

LAYOUT

  • The bottom row (Z-M) maps to one octave of chromatic notes (C through B).
  • The top row (Q-U) maps to the next octave up, with black keys on the number row.
  • Bottom row: Z S X D C V G B H N J M
  • C C# D D# E F F# G G# A A# B
  • Top row: Q 2 W 3 E R 5 T 6 Y 7 U
  • C C# D D# E F F# G G# A A# B

Use the -/+ octave buttons or MIDI Settings to change the base octave and velocity.

SHORTCUT INTERACTION

When the QWERTY keyboard is active, bare letter and number key shortcuts (like Tab for minimap) are automatically suppressed so they don't conflict with MIDI input. Shortcuts with modifier keys (Cmd, Shift, etc.) continue to work normally.
