File Operations

NEW PROJECT

File > New Project (Cmd+N) creates a fresh empty project. If you have unsaved changes, you'll be prompted to save first.

OPEN PROJECT

File > Open (Cmd+O) opens a file browser to load a .nmi project file. You can also use File > Open Recent to access previously opened projects.

SAVE / SAVE AS

  • File > Save (Cmd+S) saves to the current file, or prompts for a location if this is a new project.
  • File > Save As (Cmd+Shift+S) saves a copy to a new location.

Project files use the .nmi extension and contain all node configurations, connections, modulation routes, plugin states, and embedded audio data.

RANDOMIZE PROJECT

File > Randomize Project generates a complete random composition -- random nodes, connections, instruments, and effects. Useful for inspiration or exploring what Noemi can do.

DEMO PROJECTS

File > Demo Projects opens a submenu of bundled example compositions that demonstrate various Noemi features and techniques.

PROJECT DETAILS

File > Project Details opens a free-text notes field stored with the project -- use it for liner notes, credits, tempo/key reminders, or performance instructions. If a project you open has details saved, Noemi shows them in a dialog on load so nothing important gets missed.

UNDO / REDO

Cmd+Z undoes and Cmd+Shift+Z redoes, with up to 100 steps of history. Undo is snapshot-based over the whole project, so it now covers not just canvas and editor edits but also mixer changes (volume, pan, mutes, sends), modulation matrix edits (sources, routes, depths), and mastering chain changes. Undo history is cleared when you open or create a project.
